            The Elkins Police Department was founded on August 12, 1982, Troy Keathly was named the first Police Chief on August 24, 1982. The first police vehicle was bought was a 1980 Chevrolet Caprice from the city of Lincoln, AR on July 22, 1982.Since it's establishment the department has grown to seven full time officers and eight volunteer officers. In December 2008 the Police Department was moved to its current location at 1874 Stokenbury.
